The celebration of the 150th anniversary of the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Dartmouth College Case was held on April 9, 1969, in the Court of Claims, Washington, D.C.; the celebration also commemorated the career of Daniel Webster, the advocate who defended the case before the Supreme Court. Rand, Stephen, 1844-1915.

Rand was born in Norwich, Vt. in 1844. He was a member of Dartmouth College Class on 1863 and received his AB in 1879. He became an assistant engineer in the United States Navy, continued his career in the Navy, and retired with the rank of rear admiral in 1911. From the description of Papers, 1858-1869.
